    Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy and EMDR

    Treatment Style

I integrate person-centered talk therapy with evidence based ancient mindfulness techniques and EMDR (Eye-Movement-Desensitization-Reprocessing). With this holistic and science-based neuroaffective approach your emotional pain associated with memories and future worries will be radically reduced. You will feel supported, validated and heard, learn new coping and communication skills and its practical application in your daily life. This treatment style is collaborative and proven to be highly effective treating stress, anxiety, mood- and thought- disorders, trauma and addiction. I see very good results in many of my clients as they grow emotionally and behaviorally, often transforming themselves to lead more present, balanced, authentic, happy and meaningful lives.

My own mindfulness and Zen meditation practice and psychotherapy of 18 years is the cornerstones of my non-judgmental treatment style as I am greatly inspired by my own journey towards healing, awakening and transformation. By cultivating mindfulness through both informal and formal practices, I naturally bring more mindfulness into the consulting room.

    Effective, evidence based therapy...

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. However, EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

EMDR therapy is effective in treating more than Trauma and Complex trauma that it is known for. EMDR also works well to treat anxiety, panic, addiction, cravings and other mental health issues as well.

Mindfulness is based in ancient wisdoms developed by Siddhartha Gautama, also called Guatama Buddha, over 2500 years ago in Asia. Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens. ... When we practice non-formal and formal mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we're sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or worrying about the future. When we implement mindfulness skills and practices into our daily life and make it into our life-style, we develop new neural pathways in the brain that replaces the old ones that no longer serves us, as a result, we change not only how we view ourselves and the world but we also change our brain chemistry. Oftentimes this is a transformative experience that leads to an overall wellbeing and inner calm.
